A new leak suggests that Horizon Forbidden West is getting an online storefront that will add “DLC expansions” to the latest release from Guerrilla Games.
Forbidden Horizon West was released a week ago and it was well received by critics and fans. Developer Guerrilla Games has been praised for improving the side quests of Forbidden Horizon Westwhile expanding the fight significantly.
Forbidden Horizon West already has a lot of content and players will take dozens of hours to complete the game. In addition to side quests, players can quickly earn skill points in Forbidden Horizon West by completing the different types of open-world activities, allowing them to unlock new abilities. Now a new leak suggests that Guerrilla Games will add DLC and in-game purchases to Forbidden Horizon West.
The Twitter account of VSC Rating Board, which rates video games in the UK using the PEGI system, has posted a new video which aims to explain why Forbidden Horizon West received his age rating. The video opens by introducing the setting and story of this series and confirms that Forbidden Horizon West is rated PEGI 16, primarily due to its depiction of violence. He then explains that players can connect to an online storefront in Forbidden Horizon West, allowing them to purchase future DLCs. It specifically uses the term “DLC expansions” and ends by recommending other games similar to the Horizon series.
Forbidden Horizon West does not have an online showcase to date. Perhaps the leaderboard has leaked items that are supposed to be added in a future update, as the game’s ESRB rating also mentions these in-game purchases. Although the video clarifies that these items are not required to play Forbidden Horizon Westfans may be surprised due to Sony’s history with in-game purchases in first-party games.
PlayStation’s single-player games typically don’t have in-game purchases, and that’s true for all of Sony’s major franchises, including Horizon, God of the warand Spider Man. Sony’s multiplayer games support microtransactions, and players can expect the next multiplayer title to take place in The last of us universe to offer an in-game store.
The reception of the online store depends solely on the implementation of Guerrilla Games and fans can hope that none of the elements will impact the gameplay or the progression system of Forbidden Horizon West. Ubisoft has been widely criticized for adding armor sets to the in-game store. Assassin’s Creed Valhallaand Horizon may feature similar items. Horizon Zero Dawn received an expansion in the form of frozen natureand maybe this shop will only include story content and bite-sized cosmetic items.
Forbidden Horizon West is now available for PS4 and PS5.
