Center: MK plans for former WH Smith store submitted to Milton Keynes advice

Plans have been unveiled for a former WH Smith store and nearby units at a Milton Keynes shopping center.

Hermes CMK General Partner requested the merger of business units 122 to 156 Midsummer Boulevard in the center: MK to create a larger unit.

If the program is approved, the developers hope to provide “ground floor and part of the first floor retail space for a national high street retailer.”

The planning request does not indicate whether a specific business is ready to move into the site if the plans get the green light.

In a planning statement, the developers said: “The larger of the units (unit 126-132) was historically occupied by WH Smith, until they moved to a smaller unit elsewhere in central: mk.

“The rest of the units have been on a retailer rotation lately, with the current incumbents being Scotts and Tessuti, although they will be leaving in February 2022 to take up a new unit within center: mk, which corresponds to their location profile.

“Unit 132 is currently vacant.

“The rest of the units (units 122-124 and 132 and 136) are vacant, formerly occupied by Fat Face and Blue Ink, William Hill was previously located on the ground floor of units 122 to 124.”

Milton Keynes’ council will make a decision on the program in the coming weeks.
